Copy individual files

Log into your My Site

To login, open a web browser. In the address bar, type in students.mccombs.utexas.edu. In the password prompt, type in:

mccombs\Your McCombs Account

Your McCombs Account Password

For example, if your McCombs Account was msbaz789, you would enter:

mccombs\msbaz789

Once you've entered your McCombs Account and Password, press OK. You should be redirected to your My Site page.

Save files

  1. Go into your Personal or Shared Documents library.
  2. Right-click on the file to save and select Save Target As.
  3. Save to a location on your personal computer or USB drive.

Copy multiple files

If you want to copy everything from your My Site, you can grab everything if you have saved the site as a network place.

First, you must add the site as a Network Place. If you have already done this, skip to the instructions below.

Adding Your My Site As A Network Place

Adding your My Site as a Network Place allows you to copy/paste files directly to it.

  1. Launch 'My Network Places'. - Open My Computer. In the left column, click "Network Places".
  2. Click "Add a Network Place" in the left column.
  3. The "Add Network Place" Wizard starts.
  4. Choose "Select Another Network Location".
  5. Type the following in the field: https://students.mccombs.utexas.edu/personal/ and then your McCombs Account. For example, msbzz007 would look like: https://students.mccombs.utexas.edu/personal/msbzz007.
  6. If prompted for a password, be sure to type in 'McCombs\' before your McCombs Account.
  7. Select "Finish"; your Network Place has been added.

If you are using Classic View and don't see the above options:

  1. Open My Computer.
  2. From the Viewmenu, select Explorer Bar > Folders.
  3. Click "My Network Places" in the left column.
  4. Double-click Add Network Place.
  5. Follow the directions above starting at step 3.

Copying several files at once

  1. If it's not already open, open your My Site through Network Places by going to My Computer and double-clicking on the site.
  2. If necessary, double-click to open the folder that contains your files.
  3. Select any files you want to save and copy them to another folder on your personal computer or your USB drive.
