To ALL Fall 2009 Graduates

Congratulations on your upcoming graduation! As you transition into the next phase of your life, don't forget about your McCombs technology resources. Your McCombs (MSB) Account, email, McCombs website, and McCombs notebook computer will all be affected by your graduation. Read on to learn what to do and why. Do this before January 12!

Essential Steps to Prepare for Graduation:

This is a checklist of things you must do before you graduate. Detailed explanations can be found below. You must do this before your account is deleted on January 12. We also recommend you read through the complete Graduation FAQ.

  1. Read through the Graduation FAQ page.
  2. Set up an alternate email address (like Gmail, Yahoo, etc.).
  3. Set up lifetime email forwarding (instructions).
  4. Copy everything from your My Site to CD or computer. (instructions)
  5. If you have one, copy your McCombs website to CD or computer. (instructions)
  6. Buy software you need from the Campus Computer Store. It's your last chance to buy discounted software as a student. We highly suggest you purchase Office 2007 and Windows 7, if you have not purchased it previously from the Campus Computer Store.
  7. If you downloaded your anti-virus software from Bevoware, uninstall it and install new anti-virus software.
  8. If you use Outlook personal folders, find out where they are saved. (instructions)
  9. Back up your computer! (more information and instructions)
  10. If you purchased your computer through the McCombs Notebook Program, reset your Administrator password. (instructions)
  11. Check the ITS Graduation web site to find out what will happen to your university technology resources.
  12. Grab your mailbox back-up from McCombs Online Resources, available January 14 - February 11. (instructions)


McCombs Notebook Program Owners - If you had Windows Vista installed on your computer at the SWAT Shop, you need to take action to resolve an important licensing issue. Learn more at our licensing issue page.

Mac Owners - Your mailbox backup will be a .pst file, which can only be opened in Outlook. If you own a Mac, we suggest forwarding any email you want to keep to another email account.
