Outlook XP setup

You will need to run [VPN.asp Virtual Private Network (VPN) software] when connecting or configuring your Outlook email from off-campus.

1. Click on the Microsoft Outlook icon on the desktop.
2. Office XP has an Outlook 2002 Startup Wizard that walks you through this process. Click Next to begin. (If you don't see the Startup Wizard because you have used Outlook before, see our instructions for 'Setting Up Outlook without the Wizard at the bottom of the page.)Since you are setting up Outlook to get your business school email, ensure that yes is selected and click Next.
3. Select Microsoft Exchange Server and click Next.
4. Type the name of the business school exchange server as exchange.mccombs.utexas.edu.In the User Name field, enter in your MSB account (for students this is your MSB number, for faculty/staff it is your last name + first initial)Click the Check Name box. At this point, you may be required to enter your user name, password and domain. Your user name is your MSB account, your password is your MSB account password, and the domain is mccombs. If you do not see a line to enter the domain, enter your MSB account as mccombs\msb______.
5. Check to ensure that the exchange server has resolved to the correct mailbox. You should see your name. Click Next. 6. In typical Microsoft fashion, you should see a box congratulating you on completing the Setup Wizard. Pat yourself on the back and click Finish.

If you didn't see the Outlook Startup Wizard when you opened Outlook, you can configure Outlook through the Control Panel.

Click on the Start button in the lower left corner of your screen. Open your Control Panel.
In your Control Panel, select Mail.
Then in the Mail panel, select Email Accounts.
If you did not have a previous Exchange email account, set up the Email settings [#top as noted above]. If you did have a previous Exchange email account, you will need to delete it and create a new Exchange account, or else create a new Profile for the Business School Exchange email.
